Finance Facts
The Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) is Solon City School District's user-friendly financial document designed specifically for community members who want to understand our district's finances without needing an accounting background. Unlike our comprehensive audited financial statements prepared for regulatory purposes, the PAFR is prepared on a cash basis of accounting and focuses primarily on the General Fund, which is the main operating fund of the school district. The PAFR translates complex financial information into clear, accessible language that taxpayers and parents can easily understand.
Transparency and Accountability
The comprehensive report serves as a bridge between our district and our community, promoting transparency and accountability in how we manage taxpayer resources. The PAFR reflects our commitment to open communication with the community we serve. For 25 years, Solon City Schools has maintained its distinction as an excellent public school district, and this financial transparency helps demonstrate how we continue to achieve outstanding results while managing resources responsibly.
This report helps residents:
- Understand where their tax dollars go and how they support student education
- See our district's financial health and fiscal responsibility
- Compare our performance and efficiency with other school districts
The document also details the exceptional value provided by the Solon City Schools: Our students consistently achieve top tier academic performance in Ohio, while our community’s tax rates remain in the mid-range both within Cuyahoga County and among comparable high-performing districts. This combination of excellent education and moderate taxation reflects responsible fiscal stewardship and a strong return on investment for our community.
